EYOA 24 – the best of the best
Around 70 highly talented young musicians from all over Europe were once again selected by a jury of experts this year. They will perform the two final concerts of this year’s orchestra workshop together with the opera choir of the National Theater in Mannheim. On the program: Beethoven’s IX Symphony, Hans Eisler’s Gegen den Krieg with texts by Bert Brecht and Mario Joannou Elia’s new composition EUROPA – Ode to Friendship, which will have its world premiere at our concerts.

Beethoven’s Ninth turns 200
07 May 1824, 19 h, Kärntnertortheater, Vienna – after more than six years of hard work, the time has finally come: Ludwig van Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony is premiered and, of course, he himself is present. The evening becomes a historic event in European cultural history. „Like us, the organisers at the time were convinced that the hall would be full and that everyone would be thrilled by this music. To this day, it is the exceptional piece.“ (Michel Maugé in an interview with the Mannheimer Morgen)
European election 2024
Our concert is a tribute
# to one of the most important composers of all time and
# to our democratic Europe
70 highly talented young people from all over Europe (European Youth Orchestra Academy) will perform Beethoven’s Ninth together with the opera choir and top-class soloists from Mannheim National Theatre.
„We deliberately scheduled the EYOA on the weekend before the European parliamentary elections. The joy, the friendships between the many nationalities, the peace and empathy that arise during these ten days (during the orchestra workshop) should send a clear signal in favour of a united and democratic Europe. – A visible sign that is absolutely necessary in view of the increasingly strong nationalist tendencies in Europe.“ (Michel Maugé in an interview with the Mannheimer Morgen)
